Carbon loading, carrier system, ash, melt flow and moisture for all twelve standard grades, in one table. Each grade has its own data sheet; the SDS and the batch certificate of analysis are issued with the shipment.
Measured in our own QC laboratory. Print this page or save it as PDF for your file; the contractual numbers are confirmed against your order and restated on the batch CoA.

The carrier. The carrier is chosen for the polymer you run, not for our convenience. Our standard PE carrier is Maoming Petrochemical LLDPE 7042. Across the range we compound on LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, PP, PA, AS and PBT, in black-wax, yellow-wax and wax-free systems, and we also make carrier-free concentrates. The carrier and its grade are named on each grade’s data sheet.
Density <2.0 g/cm³ on all PE-based grades (HP wax grade measured 1.237 g/cm³). Recommended let-down 1–3% across the range. Packaging 25 kg KP or PE bags, 20 bags per pallet. Shelf life 36 months in unopened bags, stored dry and off the floor at ambient temperature. Loading 18 t per 20 ft container, 26 t per 40 ft, palletised. HS code 32064900. Loading port Shenzhen, China. 508C runs on N330; the type in every other grade is named on that grade’s data sheet and lot CoA — see below.
Every supplier says “strict quality control”. This is what that means written down: ten checks before a lot is allowed out, each against a named method. Ask any other mill to put theirs next to it.
| Pellet appearance Visual, against reference | Uniform black pellets. Oversized, doubled and deformed pellets together are held below 2%. What this protects you from: bridging in the hopper and an erratic gravimetric feeder. |
|---|---|
| Bulk density GB/T 23771-2009 | The density your hopper and your dosing unit actually see, not the density of the polymer. This is the figure that decides whether a volumetric feeder keeps its accuracy when you switch supplier. |
| True density GB/T 1033.1-2008 | Cost per kilo versus cost per litre, and how you convert a volume-based dosage into weight for your cost sheet. |
| Volatiles GB/T 6284-2006 | Moisture and other volatiles. Too much of it shows up as silver streaking on film, pinholes, and die drool an hour into a long run. |
| Melt flow rate GB/T 3682-2000 | Whether our carrier moves your melt pressure. Always reported together with the load (2.16, 5 or 21.6 kg) — an MFR without its load is not a number you can compare. |
| Carbon black content GB/T 13021-1991 | The loading you are paying for, measured rather than claimed. |
| Residue on ignition (ash) GB/T 9345.1-2008 | Separates carbon black from total filler. This is the check that tells a genuine loading apart from one stretched with cheap mineral filler. |
| Carbon black dispersion Simulated production process, rated in three grades | Blown film with no screen pack, or injection — the black is assessed under the shear you will actually give it, not under laboratory conditions you will never reproduce. |
| Restricted substances RoHS, six-substance sum | Lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE, against third-party SGS reports held for the grade family. |
| PAHs EN 16143:2013 | Benzo[a]pyrene and total PAHs — the German AfPS GS 2019:01 PAK category that decides whether a black article can be sold into the EU consumer market at all. |
Where filter pressure fits: dispersion above is assessed as a simulated-process rating. A filter-pressure value (ISO 23900-5) or a microscopic rating (ISO 18553) is not part of that release set — if your specification asks for one, raise it with the quote and we will confirm whether we can run it, by which method and on what terms, before you order.
| Grade data sheet (TDS) | One page per grade, with the values above plus recommended let-down, processing window and packaging. Sent with the quotation, or on its own if you are still screening. |
|---|---|
| Safety data sheet (SDS) | Issued with the quotation, in the language and format your country requires. Carbon black masterbatch is not classified as a dangerous good for transport, but the SDS is still a required document for your file and for your own customers. |
| Certificate of analysis (CoA) | Per lot, per shipment. States what that batch actually measured against the release checks above — not a reprint of the typical values above. A test outside that set appears on the CoA only if it was agreed in writing with the order. |
| Certificates | ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001, supplied with certificate number and issuing body so you can check them yourself. 22 SGS test reports are downloadable as original PDFs. |
| Origin and compliance | Commercial invoice, packing list, CoA, certificate of origin and a signed origin and forced-labour statement travel together as one document set. |
On the numbers above: they are typical in-house QC reference figures, not contractual limits. The contractual specification is what we confirm against your order, and it is the CoA — not this page — that states what your lot measured.
For pipe, cable and pressure applications, dispersion is the specification that matters ahead of jetness. An agglomerate in a pressure pipe wall is a stress concentrator, and that is where a slow crack starts. Below is what each test is, and what a masterbatch supplier can and cannot put behind it.
“10% carbon black” tells a buyer almost nothing on its own. Which carbon black decides UV life, jetness, how much shear the compound needs, and where the filter pressure lands. We run two oil-furnace blacks classified under ASTM D1765 — N220 and N330 — and the type used in a given grade is named on that grade’s data sheet and on the lot certificate. 508C, our sewer and drainage grade, is compounded on N330.
| Type | Class | Typical particle size | What it buys you | What it costs you |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| N220 | ISAF — intermediate super abrasion furnace | about 20–25 nm | More jetness per point of loading and a denser UV screen at the same dose. The finer particle size sits inside the particle-size window that pressure-pipe standards write for pipe-grade carbon black. | Harder to disperse. It wants more shear, and a slack compounding regime shows up immediately as higher filter pressure. |
| N330 | HAF — high abrasion furnace | about 28–36 nm | Disperses more easily, runs to a lower filter pressure, and costs less per kilo. The normal choice where jetness is not the specification and the part is not a pressure wall. | Less jetness at equal loading — you dose slightly more to reach the same black. |
Structure is measured by DBP absorption (ASTM D2414) and reported with the batch. We name the carbon black per grade rather than per company, because the choice follows what the part has to survive: an exposed PE100 pressure wall and a black injection-moulded appliance housing do not want the same carbon black. If your specification fixes the carbon black type — pipe and geomembrane specifications often do — tell us and we quote to it.
Where each grade sits: carbon black type per grade is stated on the grade’s own data sheet and on the lot CoA, not left for you to infer. Ask for the TDS of the grades you are screening and you will see it there.
No. They are typical in-house QC reference figures. The contractual specification is what we confirm against your order, and the batch certificate of analysis states what that lot actually measured.
Yes. We issue the SDS with the quotation, in the language and format your country requires. Carbon black masterbatch is not classified as dangerous goods for transport, but an SDS is still a required document for your file and for your own downstream customers.
Every lot is released on a simulated-process dispersion rating, assessed under the shear you will actually give it. That is the standard release check. If your specification asks for a filter-pressure value or a microscopic rating instead, tell us at quotation: we confirm then whether we can run it, by which method and on what terms, because it is not part of the standard release set.
We run two oil-furnace blacks classified under ASTM D1765: N220 (ISAF, about 20-25 nm) and N330 (HAF, about 28-36 nm). N220 gives more jetness per point of loading and a denser UV screen; N330 disperses more easily and runs to a lower filter pressure. Which one a given grade uses is stated on that grade’s data sheet and on the lot certificate of analysis. If your specification fixes the carbon black type, tell us and we quote to it.
Tell us which grades you are screening and what you run them on. We send the TDS and SDS the same working day, with a firm factory quote if you want one.
